divShare is an extremely socially driven online storage and sharing service that offers a no cost account that includes 5 GB of data online backup and storage and 10 GB of downloads/month. DivShare has also done a fantastic job of integrating with other prevalent applications and services to let you add the power of DivShare to your web sites, blogs (Wordpress plugin), phone (iPhone), and social networking (Facebook App). They’ve even produced their own API that enables developers to effortlessly integrate its online storage and sharing services into their own applications. Features include embeddable files, password protection for sharing files/folders, branding options, elimination of advertising (paid only) and mobile phone access (iPhone only). A basic paid plan costs $7.95/month and includes 10 GB ($0.79/GB/month) of storage, a 2 GB maximum file size upload, and 100 GB of downloads/month. DivShare’s prime package includes 50 GB of storage and 500 GB of downloads/month for $31.95 ($0.64/GB/month). Their customer service is provided via FAQs, support tickets, and email.
There are a lot of file sharing/hosting/storing sites out there, and more coming online all the time. “Why use DivShare?” DivShare differentiates itself from other no cost internet backup, online storage and sharing services in a number of distinct ways, most notably is that they offer unrestricted uploads and downloads, no waiting lines for files, auto image galleries, no popups or spam, an intuitive member dashboard, and all files stay online indefinitely. Likely the biggest reason why bloggers and webmasters choose DivShare over the other gratis file hosts is their co-branding options. Blogs can quickly and easily add their name, URL and logo to their hosted file pages via the dashboard.
We have to admit, everything sounds great that files stay online forever, but how does it actually perform? Well, the our song downloaded at an average rate of 450+KBps, which was very acceptable. We uploaded a 25MB (You can’t upload files larger ornamental100MB) video, and though there’s no ornamental Flash-Ajax upload timer, it took less than 2.75 minutes to finish. On an 3M upload, that’s extremely acceptable. Since DivShares recent launch, only time will tell if the service remains as exceptional as it is right now.
